About this role

  • We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Catering Manager to oversee catering operations across multiple divisions of our organization. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing catering services for a variety of business units, events, facilities, and client locations while ensuring exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, food quality, and profitability.

    The successful candidate will work closely with leadership, kitchen teams, service staff, clients, and vendors to deliver outstanding catering experiences while supporting the growth and success of all catering divisions.

  • Duties:

  • 🀝 Coordinate catering orders from inquiry to delivery, ensuring each event runs smoothly and on time.

  • πŸ“‹ Plan menus, portions, staffing, and equipment needs for off-site and on-site catering events.

  • πŸ– Work with the kitchen and BBQ team to prepare exceptional food that matches Meatings BBQ standards.

  • 🚚 Oversee event setup, delivery, service flow, and teardown with a hands-on, guest-focused approach.

  • βœ… Confirm order details, dietary notes, timelines, and special requests with clients and internal teams.

  • πŸ“Š Monitor catering budgets, labour, and food costs to help keep events profitable and efficient.

  • πŸ“ž Respond to client questions, provide friendly solutions, and keep communication upbeat and professional.

  • 🧾 Maintain accurate records for bookings, invoices, event notes, and follow-up after each catering job.

  • 🍽️ Ensuring that the equipment, truck, trailer are clean to food safety standards at all times.

  • 🚚 Be able to maintain the truck and trailer as well as store properly.

  • 🚦 Support food safety, cleanliness, and workplace safety practices throughout all catering operations.
    🀝 Other duties that apply and fill in for roles when required of people that you manage.

Requirements

  • πŸŽ“ College diploma or equivalent experience in hospitality, food service, events, or business is preferred.

  • ⏳ 1-2 years of experience in catering, restaurant operations, or event coordination is required as a manager or several years of supervisory experience in catering.

  • 🀝 Strong leadership and team coordination skills with the ability to keep things fun, organized, and calm under pressure.

  • πŸ’» Comfortable using scheduling, ordering, and basic office systems to manage bookings and event details.

  • βœ… Must be available to work split shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • πŸ“ž Punctual, honest, excellent attitude and strong communicator.

  • πŸ‘€ Excellent attention to detail when confirming menus, timelines, guest counts, and special requests.

  • πŸ’ͺ Ability to work evenings, weekends, and event-based hours, with some lifting and active on-site duties.

  • 🍽️ Food safety knowledge and a solid understanding of professional catering and hospitality standards.

  • πŸš— A valid driver’s licence, ability to drive truck/trailer and reliable transportation are assets for event travel around Ottawa and surrounding areas is required.

Terms of employment

Permanent, full-time position with a 3-month probation period. Evening and weekend work required based on catering schedules and event demand.
